Collection: Brooches & Dress Clips

This collection of vintage McClelland Barclay Art Deco brooches and dress clips features a variety of designs. Sterling silver brooches often have flora or fauna motifs like this framed lamb brooch (shown), made using a repoussé, or hammered technique. Other brooch and dress clip styles are of gold plated, sterling vermeil, or the more rare silvertone metal.

Different Styles: McClelland Barclay Art Moderne brooch designs feature colour or clear rhinestones that have a more glamourous look. Many of these designs are also available as bracelets or necklaces . Some brooches have bales which allow them to be worn on a chain or cord as a pendant necklace.

Rare Finds: Because McClelland Barclay costume jewellery was made only between 1938 - 1943, these brooches and dress clips are hard to find and highly collectible. In my book, you can find out more about the artist's life and works beyond jewellery, as well as my discovery of new revelations about Rice-Weiner & Co., the maker of McClelland Barclay signed jewellery.
