McCLELLAND BARCLAY Sterling Silver Repoussé Trio of Leaping Dolphins Brooch

McCLELLAND BARCLAY Sterling Silver Repoussé Trio of Leaping Dolphins Brooch

Among McClelland Barclay sterling silver designs, some are rarer than others, such as this dolphin pin, which is not often seen. The three dolphins seem to be smiling as they leap in an imaginary sea. The silver has been hammered from behind into the shape of the dolphins, using a technique known as repoussé, often found in quality handmade Mexican jewellery. This brooch is shown on p. 119 of my book.

Year Made: 1938-1943

Condition: very good vintage condition; signs of wear on the back, which appears to have a finish on the sterling silver.
