McClelland Barclay Sterling Vermeil Flower and Leaves Bar Pin
McClelland Barclay Sterling Vermeil Flower and Leaves Bar Pin
Two heart-shaped leaves and tendrils and a raised central flower with a round corolla embellish this open sterling vermeil bar brooch. Measuring 3.25 inches, the bar pin is a good length, and it looks especially attractive on the shoulder of a dress or jacket.
Sterling vermeil is sterling silver that has been gold plated. This McClelland Barclay bar pin is part of a series of flowers and leaves jewellery like these sterling vermeil flower dress clips made by Rice-Weiner & Co. between 1938 - 1943. Read more about the artist and maker in my book , and see another example of this flower and leaf design on page 128.
